About AMCRegs

AMC Regulations is the one-stop resource center for all the latest laws and regulation for appraisal management companies across the nation. We have compiled information for all 52 states and made it available completely free of cost for the benefit of new and existing appraisal management companies (AMCs).

According to Dodd-Frank, if a state does not have AMC regulations in place by the beginning of 2014, then AMC’s that operate within that said state could not perform appraisal services in connection with a federally related transaction. Currently, twelve states and the District of Columbia do not have regulations in place regarding the registration and supervision of appraisal management companies (AMC), as required by the Dodd-Frank Act. We will update the regulations on this website as soon as they become available.

On the federal level, the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) along with several agencies (including the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Federal Housing Finance Agency) issues a Final Rule on the “Minimum Requirements for Appraisal Management Companies”. The Final Rule aims to set minimum standards for Appraisal Management Companies (AMC’s) and each State and make clear and consistent definitions, requirements, and oversight for AMCs. These regulations can be found here.
